Basic Design Tips for Your Jar Labels
Design in CMYK. It’s more suitable for printing than RGB. If you don’t want any dramatic shifts in colors and ensure accuracy in the final print, designing in CMYK is a must.
Use high-resolution images. You need images that have a resolution of at least 300 dpi (dots per inch) if you don’t want your labels to look blurry. Keep in mind that most images found on the internet are low resolution and that PNG and GIF files can’t be used for high-quality printing. As a reference, our preferred file format at PrintRunner is PDF.
Make your logo as noticeable as possible. Whether you place it in a prominent place in your label or make it really big, having a noticeable logo can do wonders for your brand awareness.
Follow labeling regulations. If your jar labels are going to be used on food packaging, don’t forget to follow labeling regulations set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Check out their Food Labelling Guide for the complete details.
