Choose the Right Size and Material for Your Custom Backdrops
The most important things to consider when choosing the size and material for your custom backdrops are the venue and number of guests. Here’s a handy guide when it comes to our most popular sizes:
- 5' x 8' can fit 2-3 persons at the same time. It’s suitable for small events and gatherings.
- 8' x 8' can accommodate 4-5 persons in one photo. This is a proper size for small conferences and trade shows.
- 12' x 8' is for group photo sessions. Perfect for big events and parties.
- 20’ x 8’ is our largest backdrop size and can accommodate a large group in one photo.
There are two materials available for our custom backdrops: standard and premium vinyl custom backdrops.
Standard 13 oz. Vinyl

3 Simple Tips to Achieve a Standout Backdrop Design
Designing for large format prints is a lot different from designing brochures or business cards, but that doesn't mean it's more complicated. Here’s what you can do to get a crisp and clear custom backdrop.
- Use the right image resolution. We recommend a minimum of 300 dpi to ensure your backdrop looks sharp up close and from afar.
- Use a sans serif font. If you’re incorporating text into the backdrop design, pick a font that people can easily read regardless of the size. People will be looking at the event photos once they’re printed or uploaded online, after all.
- Choose your colors wisely. It goes without saying that you need to pick contrasting colors for your backdrop to stand out. However, there’s also the venue lighting to consider, and in some cases, even the event’s color motif. To be on the safe side, pick vivid but dark hues for your backdrop. This prevents your design from getting washed out from harsh lighting or flash photography.
Assembling Your Custom Backdrop
Step 1 - Position the poles in the area where the backdrop will be displayed.
Step 2 - Attach the metal bases onto the vertical poles.
Step 3 - Insert the horizontal poles into the backdrop banner’s pole pockets.
Step 4 - Connect the horizontal poles to the vertical poles and lift the backdrop to its position.

Can I print on both sides of the backdrops?
Yes, you can. To do this, just select Front and Back in the Printed Sides option.How do I print my design or photo into a backdrop?
You can directly upload your artwork or photos when placing your order. We also have an easy-to-use, browser-based design tool to create your design or make some quick edits. You can upload additional images and add text, shapes, and colors.What file type, format, and resolution should I upload my file in?
We recommend saving your file in CMYK in JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIF, TIFF, EPS, DOCX, or DOC format to preserve the design’s quality. Take note that our minimum resolution is 300 dpi, while the maximum allowed file size is 200MB.Do you offer proofing before we proceed to print?
