What finishes are available for foil invitations?
- Uncoated Finish. This means the paper has no extra coating or finishing and provides an elegant and classy look. It has no glare, so your foil accents on the invitations will stand out even more.
- Silk Laminate with Foil Accents. This features dull finish with a luxurious silky feel to the touch. The silk laminate coating makes your cardstock stronger and more water-resistant.
- Silk Laminate with Foil and Spot UV Accents. These three combinations bring texture and gloss to your invitations. Spot UV areas pick up the light and add more shine to your foil invitations. It also gives a tactile feel for maximum contrast and style.
What Size Do I Need for My Event?
You wouldn’t want to send out jumbo-sized invitations for an intimate party or use mini-sized invitations for a big all-night party.
The size will help you set the tone of your event
- 4" x 6" and 4.25" x 6" sizes are regular-sized invitations used for birthdays, christenings, and graduation parties. This size is also great for save-the-date announcements and postcard style invitations.
- 4.25" x 5.5" size is also known as an A2 flat card. This is the ideal size for response cards, RSVP postcards, inserts, and small announcements.
- 5" x 7" size is perfect for special events such as weddings, achievement awards, formal functions and other milestones. This A7 flat card features generous space which is perfect for wedding invitations.

Question and Answer
What exactly is “spot UV”?
“Spot UV” is the clear coating applied over a specific area of your invitation depending on your design. This coating adds more texture and brightens ink colors too. It provides a nice contrast with foil accents which makes it a winning choice for foil invitation printing.
Why should I pick rounded corners for my invitations?
Rounded corners give your foil invitation a softer and cleaner look compared to the hard, sharp edges of a square-shaped design. Rounded corners also prevent snagging or wear after prolonged handling.
Is shipping time included in my printing turnaround time?
No. Turnaround time only refers to the number of days required to produce your order. This begins the moment your print-ready artwork has been uploaded. Shipping time, holidays and weekends are not included.

- If applying foil to text, use font size of 8 pts. or larger.
- Strokes or borders must be more than 1.5 pts. thick.

To set up your file for foil printing with spot uv:
In addition to the second layer added for the foil printing process, your file should have a third layer for the spot uv. Below are the additional guidelines for preparing your files for foil printing with spot uv.
- On your third layer, create a mask file for the elements in your design where you would want spot uv.

- Leave a 1/16" gap in between foil and spot uv elements. They cannot overlap.
- Minimum font size is 8 pts.
