Create Candle Roll Labels That Engage the Senses
Candles have a long lifespan that requires labels to be durable and equally long-lasting. When not in use, candles can be displayed inside the house, making them great conversational pieces when friends and family visit.
Labeling your candles takes more than just creating a good design. When creating your roll candle labels, consider the following:
1. Basic Information
Some candle labels have minimalist designs. Even though you want to keep your candle label clean, there is information that should always be present. This includes the product name, your company, candle weight, and contact details.
2. Candle-Specific Details
Are you selling scented candles? Make sure to add the scent to the label, so customers can choose according to their favorite scent profile. Also include the type of wax used. Some people prefer soy wax candles over beeswax. Another thing to add is the projected burn time, so people would know how many hours the candles will last.
3. Fire Safety Warnings
The National Candle Association (NCA) requires candle manufacturers to add three (3) graphic safety symbols on labels to represent: (a) Burn Within Sight, (b) Keep Away From Combustibles, and (c) Keep Away From Children. Although the NCA did not specify where these symbols should be, a good practice is to put them where customers can easily see them (e.g., cover label or side label).
Label Placement & Roll Candle Label Materials
Where should you put candle labels? For votives, they are usually placed on the body of the candle. For candle jars and tins, you can put them on the container. If the container comes with a cover, it’s a good idea to put a label on that as well.
Label placement matters not only in brand identification but also for safety reasons. Not all roll candle labels are heat resistant. If you put them close to the heat source, there’s the risk of catching fire.
PrintRunner offers a variety of roll candle label materials:
- White premium sticker paper
- White BOPP
- Clear BOPP
- Silver metallic BOPP
- While vinyl
- White Vellum texture – Estate #8
- White laid texture – Estate # 4
- Cream laid texture – Estate #9
These materials work well with any type of candle. However, we recommend BOPP labels if you’re going to put them directly on the candle. BOPP can withstand temperatures up to 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Question and Answer
Can I add lamination to my design?
Yes, you can choose either Gloss or Matte lamination to add water-resistance to your labels. Gloss lamination gives labels a shine that captures attention, while matte lamination makes colors appear subdued and elegant.
Are all materials heat-resistant?
If you’re going to directly put the labels on candles, we recommend getting any of the BOPP materials (clear, white, or silver). These materials can handle up to 1,500 degrees (Fahrenheit) and will not burn easily.
Are roll candle labels more expensive than other formats?
Roll labels can be expensive when ordered in just a few pieces. However, the cost goes down the more labels you order. You can further lessen the cost by choosing a longer printing time (maximum 6 business days).
