Square Business Cards: A Different, Daring Take on the Usual

Give businesses and professionals the edge in making that first impression last with square business card printing. A square-shaped business card lets you break away from the dull rectangular shape that we always see. The unique shape lets potential clients see a glimpse of what you and your services are all about. And makes them remember you.

Sizes That Get the Prize

Here’s a little cheat sheet for the different square business card sizes we offer:

  • 2” x 2”: Although smaller than your average business card, this will fit perfectly in your pocket or wallet so you can take it anywhere. Minimal design and text are best for this size.
  • 2.5” x 2.5”: This is just the right size that ticks all the boxes. It’s small enough and easy to handle but has enough space so you can put in more information.
  • 3” x 3”: This size can still fit in your wallet or pocket and has room for bigger artwork and longer text.
Need more space? Don’t be limited to just one side. Maximize the square footage of your business card by printing on the front and back. You can double up on the information, graphics, and other design elements.

Coatings That Count

Different coatings are available for specific stocks that work hard not just to make your square business card printing look pretty, but also last longer.
  • Matte coating offers an understated style and class that looks high-end. Although you can’t see it, this scratch-resistant coating can take on wear and tear with elegance.
  • Gloss finish makes print colors shine while protecting the stock’s surface from scratches, smudges, and stains.
  • High Gloss UV coating has a very high reflective shine. This makes colors more vibrant and helps your business card resist damage from sunlight or moisture.
  • Silk lamination provides a smoother feel and extra durability. Making your card tear and water-resistant.

A Variety of Cardstock Options

Choose from four durable cardstock options to show off your modern design: the 13 pt. cardstock is printed on 100% recycled paper, while the 14 pt. cardstock is available in multiple coatings. The 16 pt. cardstock is slightly thicker than the previous two and is available in gloss or matte coating.

17 pt. cardstock is the premium option. Features silk lamination for extra durability, heftier weight and smooth luxurious feel.

Tips That Do the Trick

  • Simple sells. Keep it short and sweet, not just because there’s limited space, but also to create the biggest impact.
  • Design for your clients. Make sure your design is suitable to your target market.
  • Be brand proud. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase your brand. Highlight your company colors and logos on your business card design.
  • Let your creativity loose. Showcase your creativity with unique designs, unexpected colors, or unconventional materials and finishes. Pick rounded corners instead of square or add spot UV accents to highlight important information.

Q&A

Can I add a logo or picture to the uploaded design?
Yes you can. To add a logo or image to your square business card, simply click on the “Upload Your Logo” button on the business card preview. If you’ve already uploaded a picture, just upload a new one again.

What’s the ideal size of my logo design?
To ensure the best print resolution, your logo must at least be 400px. The height can be as large or small as required, but the ideal width value should be as close as possible to keep it square.

Which is the best cardstock option for my business card?
If you want a bit more heft than the standard, choose the 16 pt. cardstock. For a more premium feel, you can go with the thickest and sturdiest 17 pt. cardstock.

“It's always unnerving ordering online from a new company. I designed my business cards myself and loved how easy the process was. I cautiously opened the box and to my pleasant surprise, they were perfect! Exactly what I expected and great quality and feel! I'm so happy and will order again ;D”

“We ordered 500 square business cards. They proofed them for us and took out the border with no extra cost. The cards look great and the entire process took about 3 or 4 days!”

“The software the company provided for design was user friendly and highly customizable. I was able to design to my exact specs and the order I received in the mail was exactly what I submitted. And free shipping!! :)”

“Printrunner is my go- to for printing, and they did great once again.”
December 27, 2021 by Billy K ( OR )
“Printrunner always insists on having 1/4 inch "safe zone" on all sides. They argue with me every time over a few thousandths of an inch. But there is always over 1/8 inch of free unused space. Safe zone should maybe be 1/8 inch or you should use better cutting machines with closer tolerances. Just my 2 cents.”
